Prentis is an old building owned by Columbia University where most of the studios for MFA students are located. The building used to be Sheffield Milk Factory in the 70s that supplied milk for the entire Manhattan. The building is in terrible condition and needs immediate attention. The cow is built using the same construction materials that Columbia installed in the ceilings to hold the falling cement instead of renovating it. The artists in residency were invited to make arts using the casts of original Sheffield bottle to reflect the shifted labor from repetitive work in a milk factory to a creative practice in Columbia the School of Arts.
