This piece is inspired by the historical fiction novel “When the Empire Was Divine” by American author Julie Otsuka. The colors of the posters follow Japanese color theory in the Spring, the season in which the Executive 9066 was signed. The figure of the poster is a photo of President President Franklin D. Roosevelt, which is redesigned with Photoshop. Behind the main poster is a copy of 1942 Japanese-American “Internment Order” Broadsides.
